Will you like this book?

So…I’ve been pretty open about the length of time it’s taken me to write this beast of a book – When a Moth Loved a Bee. What with massive rewrites, over 200,000 words scrapped, and a struggle to wrangle the characters into behaving, it hasn’t been easy.

I’ve thought about burning it regularly.

I’ve often wondered what the hell I was thinking trying to write a High Fantasy Romance.

But now…now it’s all starting to come together. (Thank everything holy).

I feel connected to the book so much that I’m constantly inspired with new ideas, improvements, and plot curves. I’m in love with the two main characters and am fully immersed in their tale. My heart skips when I get to write certain chapters and my stomach flutters when I have to pen something bad. It’s taking me on a journey and I’m obsessed.

Up to this point, I’ve been rather protective of this new version of this High Fantasy. Possibly for the lack of conviction I had on the other drafts and maybe because a small part of me is still a tiny bit scared that it’s a bad book (even if I trust myself that it isn’t).

I haven’t sent it out to many betas, partly to protect my own imagination and willingness to write and also because my incredible betas (many who have been with me for ten years) are not fantasy readers. So…they aren’t really my demographic.

However, I let loose the first half the other day to a beta who is a self-confessed fantasy virgin and in a massive reading slump. She warned me (fair and square) that she might not like it and hope that I am strong enough in my story that her opinion won’t rock my sensitive writer’s soul. I told her she can be as honest as she wants and I will keep in mind that this book really wasn’t written for a reader like her and sent it with nerves and hope, greatly appreciating her time to read.

I then woke up to this:

This means so much to me because

  1. It pulled her out of her book funk
  2. It made her enjoy a fantasy book
  3. She loves it!

I’m at 75% of book one now and it’s creeping ever closer to the 200,000 word mark. It’s not a small book but a LOT happens and I cannot wait to release it to the public.

I haven’t wanted to share ANYTHING about this new version as each time I do, I seem to end up changing stuff which then makes it no longer relevant. The blurb I released is completely changed. The cover has been tweaked. The premise re-written twice since my cover reveal. I still don’t have a firm release date but I do have the tiniest teaser of the new blurb…

So….will YOU like this book?

I guess you’ll have to wait and see.

But I promise you…it’s one HELL of a ride 🙂

When a Moth Loved a Bee is the first volume in the Epic Fantasy Romance Destini Chronicles.

A heavily romantic, spice-filled fantasy set in a world where life and death, shadows and stars watch over two forbidden lovers whose powers are best left forgotten.

Recommended for readers over R18 due to explicit scenes, content, and darker elements.
